Oh my, oh my, oh my...
Why do we have to deal with this? I have been trying really hard to maintain my composure.
Having to handle all this, I just want to break down. WHY???? Why is this happening to him why do I have to sit here and watch my son slowly die? I know that there are lots of parents that have to deal with things like this. To bad that there is no other kids like mine.
So here is the news that we received. When we started the lung volume of Rhett's lungs were very small. The right lung had around 125cc and the left lung around 100cc in the left lung. This was when he was 4 years old. Those lung volumes were around the correct sizes for a 1 year old maybe. So now that we have had some PFTs (pulmonary function tests)since last year. We have had a PFT in October, January and now July. Guess what they are all the same. Hummm... Does that tell you anything? It tells me a lot! It tells me that these surgeries that the doctors have been doing since he was 4 have stopped helping him. Now we have gotten x-rays and CT scans trying to prove to the doctors that I know my son better than they think.
So anyways this last CT scan done in February showed his lung volume at the right side is at 412cc and the left side is at 325cc. Ok then he had a super aggressive surgery done in April trying to get lung volume. What the heck! Doesn't the doctor know you cannot get that much lung volume to make up 3 years in one surgery? :/ So we waited to get another CT after April just to prove to the doctors that I know what I am talking about. As we wait we have a lot of different appointments trying to get a lot of info before we meet with the doctor to discuss the CT scan results. This way we have loaded guns before we walk in and they ask for more tests.
So we get there after worrying for weeks to months. Well at least I was worrying since I knew what was going on and I understood the things that I needed to understand. We get there and to post pone the wait that I have been waiting for they send us down to x-ray since their x-ray machine was dead and they were waiting for someone to come and fix it. After that we went up stairs and wait some more. My nerves were on end! What was talking so long??? We were the first to be seen by him today so why all the waiting? Finally we are meeting the doctor and this is the news that he gave us.
The CT results from August are at right lung 504cc and the left lung 389cc. Oh great we only went up that much that SUCKS! No wonder he is having a hard time breathing. Duh! I could have told you that before all this. Hummm... Do the surgery this next month or not that is the big question that they want us to decide on. He is now 11 years old and he has that small of chest and lung volume is not a good thing. You see if a normal healthy young adult has the lung volume of about 6000 you can see that my 11 year old is WAY BEHIND. I have been trying to reach the doctors office to see where exactly his lung volume falls in the graph.
It is really sad when Rhett turns to me and the doctor and asks both of us "What is going to happen to me?" That just breaks my heart. :( I told him that it is unknown thing at this time. since it really is.
He has to go in for a cardio cath to find out what the pressures are in his lungs. If they are high that is a bad thing if they are low that is a good thing. He will be doing that this next month. They will go in through an artery and up to the heart and check the pressures through that. after that the doctor wants to get together with the cardiologist, pulmonologist, orthopedic and primary care doctors all in one room and get a care plan down for him.
I knew all this was coming but I was not wanting it to come. I have explained to people that have asked... It is like breathing into a plastic bag, how long can you do that before your body just gives up? It is really sad to sit here and know that the doctors have done everything for him but nothing is helping.
I don't know what it is like to lose a child but I know people that are my friends that have. It is hard watching them go through that from the outside. I have met several families that have lost a child to many different diseases sadly for me there have been nothing like Rhett and Dylan. It is hard not to be able to relate to others. Even though there are many people out there that have great support groups for the diseases that they have in their families.
I can admit it I am jealous! It would be nice to know that we are not out here alone. Man it sucks feeling like you are all alone. I am grateful for my friends and family for their support. I am grateful for my Lord for the comfort that he gives me.
I know it took me all afternoon to get this up but I had to stop several times to try to process everything. I am feeling better. I just need to stay in my happy place since I don't have time to be sad and scared. I guess I will deal with that later.

Ok so Nikole wanted me to have everyone promise that they won't laugh. I did her hair this morning in 3 little braids and then one bigger one at the back. Her hair went all frizzy when we took it out before bed.

So each time I go hummm... Dylan puts his finger on his chin.
It is very funny and has done this since he was younger than 1 since I would walk around thinking of dinner holding him and go hummm... I would tap my chin so now he does that and it is almost every single time he hears me do that. :)

I promise that I have been keeping up with mt photos but I have a really hard time getting them off my phone now since the cable isn't working. So I am going to catch up tonight. :)

Wow I think this is the last one before I am caught up. :) That is great news for me since I am getting tired and I have to be at the doctor office by 8 am. That means I will have to be getting up at 6ish am to make sure the kids get up and ready to leave the house so they can make it to school and that me and the other 2 kids can make it to the doctors on time.
The normal first day of school walk to school. Too bad that daddy was not able to make it this year. :( He had to work early and so it was me and the kids. Well we did a great job and we got the the school on time! Yeah for us and we will do it every day all year. :)

Man playing catch up really sucks when you are day and days behind. I wanted to post this since Dylan was in the hospital.
This is his hospital buddy. He had made one before this one but the doctors in the OR lost it. We were really sad for him since he was cuddling it. So we had him make another one.
Thank you PCMC for letting him color 2 dolls and enjoy them. :) Too bad he had one lost.

Well I was thinking on what I would have a picture on day 18. I decided to take this picture since it was the thing that came to my mind. This is a item that daddy brought back from RI for 3 of the kids. the other child got something totally different. I will have to post that on another one of my 31 days. :) What a great idea!!!

Broken
I just want to cry. The cord to upload my pictures is not working right I have been trying to post all day and NOTHING! I am so sad! :( I really need to post my 31 in 31 at least 4 different days but I can't get the pictures out of the camera. This is really stinking big time!
Rhett had his CT scan Tuesday morning and we have to wait a week to get the results which is a huge bummer.
School starts TODAY!!! So excited!! I need some space. LOL!! I think all parents feel that way. There are just things that I can do easier when the kids are in school. Gavin is going to be tested to see what class he will be placed in. that is going to be in 6 hours.
Holy crap what am I doing up?!?!?!
Oh that is right this is the only time that I have to be able to get all my feeling out there and needing to get things said and done.

I got my pictures off my phone! I am so excited!!! :) Finally! I really need to get my camera working again.
I had just put drops in his eye since he needs them 3 times a day. I was hoping that if I had the camera in front of him he would be happy but that didn't work. LOL!

He he he!! I did it! I remembered before 2 am! This is my picture for today! Ok really it is 2 pictures but they go together so I had to do them both in one day. :)

Dylan's surgery
So Dylan had surgery on Thursday and thankfully it was just an out patient one. Meaning that we were not there over night. YEA!
The crazy waiting room wall. I know most of you have probably have never seen this and I would have been happy if they had left it just blank. It is just weird!~
I was able to get some before pictures and after pictures. He had eye muscle surgery on his right eye, so as you see the pictures it is on the left looking at him. :) Took me a while to figure that one out.
We have to put drops in his eye 3 times a day for 7 days. Poor kid really doesn't enjoy this. I don't blame him I wouldn't enjoy it either. Oh wait I still have to put drops in my eyes too dang at least he doesn't cry too much if I show him that mommy need to have it done too. at least we are in this together.

Wow so much and so little
Wow trying to catch up before school starts on all the stuff that has been going on is going to be tricky. We have be a busy group.
The kids have been getting excited for school to start. I think that they have no idea how excited that I am! :) Wah ha ha ha ha!!! I can't wait! There is so much that I am not able to do until they go back that I need to do.
Rhett and Dylan are have all sort of appointments getting ready for the school year and for other things. We just saw the Cardiologist and he said that Rhett's heart is looking ok by ECHO, but they are not 100% sure how it is really doing. Between him and the Pulmonologist they would like to get a cath done on Rhett just to make sure since his heart is still ok since it is elevated but not really really bad yet. The Cardiologist said to me that normal is 25 and really really bad is 40. According to the ECHO he is at 30. He said that they can see if some medication would be able to help his heart if the oxygen isn't doing enough, but then they can also see if everything that can be done is already done. It would be another OR visit to put a little camera in either his neck or his leg and have the camera go to his heart and lungs. Then they can get a very good look at those organs. They are suppose to call me before the end of the month to get that set up soon.
Nikole is just having fun being responsible for herself and sometimes gets carried away and than gets into trouble for trying to be responsible for the boys that she doesn't need to do that for. That is a girl for you huh? :) LOL! She loves playing outside in the water and has been getting a kick out of that this summer. She is excited to start school and be in 3rd grade! She is going to have such a great time! She has got an amazing teacher!
Gavin is excited to start kindergarten! So happy that he is bouncing off the walls. :) He has been getting along better with Rhett. I know SURPRISE! LOL... They have been working hard at making it possible for them to play video games with each other. :) They are learning to be happy with each other and get along to get things done. SO HAPPY!! :) I can't believe that Gavin is getting so big. He still has some anger issues that he has to work out. He gets really really mad and then he just needs to talk and cuddle with mommy to work it all out. But after 5-10 minutes he is fine and ready to play and have a great time until he needs more mommy time. I just figured this out not even 5 days ago. I know HOW DENSE! Oh well not like I have a lot on my mind.
Dylan is just kicking it with mommy at home for now. Keep praying that we will do what we need to do before he turns 3. After 3 he is suppose to go to preschool and not get therapy at home anymore. I can't believe that is in less than 6 months. He is growing too fast for me. :'( It makes me cry. Oh well that just means that I have to help him even more so that he know more things. Right now he is recovering from eye surgery next week if I remember right another doctor's appointment. I will have to keep you posted on everything.

Ok so I know it is an older picture but Nikole has been asking so much about Rosa. When can I go visit her? How is she doing? Why can't I see her anymore?
This picture breaks my heart! She got Rosa for her 7th birthday and because the doctors said that we couldn't have a cat we had to find someone to love her like my kids did. I got his contact info and everything but when I called no one answered and then when he called back he was swearing in my phone and all sorts of stuff. What have I done??? How could I have let this happen? Rosa was the sweetest cat that we had ever had and not once did she try to hurt any of the kids. I am so sorry Nikole! I feel like the worst parent in the world, and this picture tells it all

Yeah already 8! I cannot believe it! Maybe it will go faster sooner since I am surly missing my camera. :( I hope soon that we will be able to get a battery.
They really didn't want to get up this morning. As you can see no one is moving.

Family fun night
We were able to go to the bees game a few days ago and while we were there I was able to get some pictures. It was a very weird day. Here are some of the fun pictures that I was able to take. Mind you this was with my cell phone since my camera is out of battery power. :(
Mr. Dylan was trying to get Swoop to give him a thumbs up, but being as small as he is he was not seen by Swoop. :( Oh well maybe next time.
Swoop was signing our tickets to the game and them wrote on one of the tickets "Come see me at the games" How are we going to pull that one off?
We had a night. Lots of tired kids = grumpy kids that don't want to listen. Only one of them really wanted to watch the game and that was Rhett. But that is ok since we made it through the whole game without damage. Next time maybe I will get a babysitter and go by myself. :) LOL!
Here is Swoop #96 visiting the Bees game and found our family. He had turned the binoculars around on Rhett and then was playing like he was going to get Rhett as he was looking through them. Very cute!

What???? Huh???
OK so here it is almost midnight and I am still cleaning. ARGH! I am so frustrated!!! I just want to scream... Don't tell me that I am the only one that cares?!?!?! Why is this so frustrating for me??? That is a good question... I still need to think about that long and hard.
Ok so I was poised a question that I have been thinking about all day and I am still wondering... Is there any ideas on how to teach a 3 year old about death?
I haven't a clue off the top of my head. I know I had to teach my kids when they were younger but I can't remember how I did that! I can hardly remember what I have going on day to day or what I even did yesterday. LOL! That is why I have a calendar!! Don't I wish I could remember yes but then I am sure I would forget something important if I did remember.
Well I had to take a break and keep cleaning my kitchen. LOL it is almost finished but I can finish it tomorrow if I can cram it into my day since it is pretty packed already. I will have to post the other pictures later and let you know about them. NIGHTY NIGHT! ;)

Hey looky here I am posting during lunch! :)
Ok not really but it is lunch for us now even though it is past 3. LOL!!
This is how I looked today. I made it up myself. So proud. I usually don't take pictures of myself but I figure my daughter liked it so why not take a picture so she can see it when she wants to. LOL! :)

31 in 31 day 5!
Yeah I am posting on the right day! And it isn't t he middle of the night just yet. I am sure proud of myself. :)
Nikole LOVES fruit! As you can tell. LOL

Ok since I am here and day 2 was a little behind I am going to be doing day 3 today too and later when I can see I will do day 4. LOL! dylan loving the only dog that we can have. Too bad it is a s big as him huh? :)

OMGoodness! One of those AGAIN!
OK to start out I am for warning you that I have put gel in my eyes so everything that I write is all a blur. LOL!! I hope this turns out...
Thursday was a day or dread that I would never like to repeat, EVER! It started out really bad since I couldn't see anything and we had a meeting with this wonderful woman at 10am. My eyes hurt so bad and when I looked in the mirror it was bad... all I could see was red all over my eye and the blue in my eye looked black. It was not good. I thought it might be pink eye but the medicine wasn't helping any like none. When this woman came out and we started talking and i let her know that my eyes were killing me but I wasn't sure if it was pink eye or not she got scared since she didn't want it and asked if we could meet a different day after I had been to the doctor etc... So we did that and she left after being here for 10 minutes. LOL I was scary! So before too long I made Lunch thinking I would call the doctor after and go in to see what was going on since it was that bad. As I am talking to my business associate in my kitchen as I am making all the kids some lunch and setting up possibly meeting time for next week since I CAN"T SEE. I look over to see that Nikole is helping Dylan eat his burrito that I had cut into small pieces since he has a weird mouth and can't bite or chew very good. I thought that was really nice of her to make sure that he is eating since hers were cooking at the time.
Next thing I know I am hearing this awful sound coming from where they are sitting. I look over and Dylan is chocking trying to get apiece of food out of his mouth. I grabbed him and stood him up hoping that he would be able to get it out as I hung up on my business associate after I told her I had to go and bye. :) I dial 911 since last time he did this he finally lost conciseness after being blue for too long and was just so tired. He was wheezing air past the food so there was noting that I could do but to wait nad see, but I don't take chances like that. As I was talking to dispatch for the fire department on his last ditch effort to get the food out he threw-up the food and lots of mucus a then was wiping the mucus off his face and looking at me while his body is trying to get the oxygen it needed. He was a blue boy from that ordeal and I was not happy about that so I told that dispatch that I was putting him on oxygen since he was still blue but the piece was out. They asked if they could still come by and check him out and I said yeah since that would make me feel better about how he was doing making sure he got all the food out.
He was not happy to have to wear the oxygen and so I had to point at Rhett and then he was fine for at least a little while. After I hung up with the dispatch I call daddy and told him and then I called my mom just in case she heard anything and if I needed someone to watch the other kids. But by the time the ambulance came and the fire trucks Dylan was fine and played his whole way through the exam that they were giving him. He didn't even want to come out of the door way since the ambulance had its lights on and he was so excited to see them. Little does he know why they were really here. As 2 different people were checking him out he was playing pass the toy with another one. :) Gratefully he didn't need to be transported to the hospital and has been fine since.
That was only around lunch time! My day was really needing to end since I was having issues with everything that was going on. So after they had left called daddy and told him that Dylan was fine and then called Grandma and told her the same thing. Then I called my doctor since I had ot do something about my eyes still. They only had one opening and that was with a doctor that I had never seen before but I didn't care since all the other doctors were booked into next week. :( Oh well life goes on and I was able to get a ride with my husband since he came home early anyways. After I got to the doctors he checked out my eye after looking at me like I was really sick. LOL! Took a close look and told me that I need to see a eye doctor since there might be a injury to my cornea and only the eye doctor could tell me if there was or not. He said that he would set me up with one of the ones he knows if I couldn't get in Friday morning. Ok... So I suffered all night and then got up and called my eye doctor and they were not in so I called him and let him know and the eye doctor that he knows called me and I was able to get an appointment for 10 am. So grateful to get in there first thing in the morning and figure out what is going on since there was a film over my eye and I couldn't even open or close my eye with out being in so much pain that I wanted to scream. After talking to the eye doctor and getting my eyes dyed and having them checked out, he tells me that my eyes have a whole bunch of dry spots all over them but there is no infection and there is no injury. YEAH!! So happy that it is something so simple. Well at least I think I am. I have to put fake tears in my eyes through out the day and gel in them at night. I have to go back in 2 weeks but I cannot wear my contacts for a while and I have no glasses. LOL! Great just want I need, NOT! Oh well at least I know I can fix it and that means all I have to do is cry LOTS and make my eyes really moist at night that way they can heal.

Hummmm... I wonder
There are days like today I wonder if it is all worth it. I have been having such a bad day and hey it only gets worse. So by the end of the day I have to wonder "Is this really worth it?" My theory right now is NO! It is so not worth it!! Of course I am not going to go into detail about what I am talking about since it is something I can't go into detail about right now.
School is about to start and I am so excited and I am also dreading it all at the same time. School for the 2 middle kids is just fine but for Rhett and Dylan I am having such a hard time with. Rhett and Nikole are going to have a great teachers. I am not sure who Gavin is going to have. Dylan I really don't even want to go there. It makes my blood boil to even think about him attending school when he turns three in this state.
Summer is almost over and there is so much that I have to do before the end of the year. Things have been crazy here and I am glad that they are not going to be crazy for too long. At least I hope they are not going to be this crazy.
Wouldn't it be great to go back in time to your childhood and know that you didn't have to worry about all the things us adults have to worry about. I think about all that fun things I did as a kid sure missing it since my kids can't do some of the things that I did when I was younger.
I honestly am not sure how many people read this blog and I don't mind sharing it. Often I think nobody does and that is fine too. I just think that there are times that man my life isn't as cool as others or maybe not as interesting as life of someone without all the drama in my life.
I guess I just need to vent before I exploded and this was the only outlet that I have where I can do that. Thanks for reading. :)

Catching up with life
Wow after that last post I was exhausted. LOL I don't blame me it was tiring.
I have great news.... We found Rhett's hearing aid at the park where we saw the fireworks. It was there today and we found it! I am so excited since the 1 hearing aid was $6000! I was praying all day that we would find it and we did! I can't stop thanking the Lord for the blessing of us finding such a valuable piece of equipment.
This was a crazy week seeing as Rhett was going to go to scout camp and the doctor said that he couldn't. So Monday on the 26th we went to Lagoon on our bounce back and the kids had a great time! We played in the water and went on rides and by the end of the day we all were so tired that we had a fun time getting home. Just kidding daddy was great to drive and he stayed awake very easy. All the kids fell asleep. :) I knew they were tired.
Tuesday we stayed home and cleaned like crazy. It was great since we really needed that and after the house was all clean and the kids did what they were asked they were able to play games and had a ton of fun. It was great getting the house clean and the kids had fun playing the clean up game and then playing video games after. It was like a day of playing!
Wednesday was a fun day. At first I had a business meeting and I went with a business associate of mine. After that I took her home to find out she didn't have power so she really had nothing to do. I invited her to go to the zoo with my family since we were planning on doing that right after the meeting. After she got ready to go to the zoo I came home to get myself ready and the rest of the family. As soon as we were ready we left for the zoo. We had a ton of fun walking around and seeing the animals even though it was hot outside. The kids had fun and so did all us adults. We went on the train ride twice and the kids all rode the merry-go-round. LOL! The baby elephant was super cute! After the Zoo we took my business associate home and then we went to the store to get things for lunches for Rhett and daddy to take to scout camp. We all came home and went straight to bed.
Thursday was the first day of scout camp that Rhett was able to go to at Camp Tracy! I was so excited since it was closer than Camp Evergreen and it was lower in elevation. Well daddy took Rhett to camp me and the other kids hung out at home cleaned and played on Thursday. I have been deep cleaning and going through a whole bunch of things to sell at a yard sale that was coming up.
Friday morning daddy and Rhett were running around packing for scout camp they really wanted to spend the night since they had that option. Man they took a ton of oxygen and a tent and everything that they would need or at least they hope they had taken everything that they needed. They left first thing in the morning and went to camp. I was here packing up as much things that I could that I had gathered for the yard sale. I took the other kids and all the stuff that I had gathered up to my parents house for the yard sale. We spent the night since Rhett and daddy weren't back I figured they were spending the night. Saturday morning was the beginning of the yard sale.
It was a good thing that we stayed the night since we were up at 5 am setting things out and trying to get everything ready for 7am. Between me, my sister and my mom and dad we sold as much as we could in less than 8 hours. Then we loaded everything that we hadn't sold and taken it to DI since we just don't have the time to keep it and do it again and again. I ended up getting a headache from the heat since I didn't drink enough water and was out there the whole time. My dad at the very beginning of the yard sale accidentally spilled water on on my laptop and was so sorry and sad that he had done that. I wasn't even mad I was sad praying that it would still work, and guess what it is working fine! :) Between the heat of the day and me drying it off as much as I could nothing to worry about at the moment since there is nothing I can do about it. Rhett called me after he got home but it was in the middle of kids fighting and I told him that I would call him back. After I got home with the other kids Rhett told me that he had fun and didn't say too much about it other than that. LOL!! I found out that all the councilors loved Rhett and he was able to do so much. There was one that was in charge or the archery area that told Rhett that he could have the bow that he used when he was younger. He called after he was off work and actually brought the bow over to our house with his brother. I was amazed that they were so nice to him to do that for him. Those bows are over a few hundred dollars. Thank you!! I went to bed before 10 pm that night I was so tired from that yard sale that there was nothing that I could do to stay awake.
Sunday I was looking forward to church. But I woke up with a massive migraine and just wanted to throw up. I was able to take my OPC-3 and some ibuprofen and went back to sleep on the couch since Dylan was so lovable and caring and woke me up at 6 am if not before that. I slept until noon! Finally my head wasn't hurting but I woke to find out that I had missed church. :( But I was able to recover from a week that had really worn me out. There is still much cleaning and boxing and sorting that had to be done but thankfully I don't have to worry about getting things for a yard sale. :)
Maybe this week will be less eventful so that way I can get things done that need to be done and I will have the energy to do everything that I need to do.
