From sickness to a party

Wow!  It has been a month already, can it be over yet?

I got sick and have missed several days of work and it is making me crazy.  I enjoy doing something productive, but when you can't breathe and you don't sleep you are not very productive.  My coughing was activating my asthma and was reaking havoc on my lungs. I was actively looking for a different doctor since I called my last doctor and tried to get to them.  I finally found one!  So excited!! :)  I did a happy dance in the parking lot with Dylan.  Too bad I didn't record it. HAHAHA! Anyways I was able to get seen since I was home with a sick little boy who had a virus in his eye and we couldn't put drops in his eye to help him get over it faster.  But we went to the doctor and I am now on more breathing treatments and if I am still coughing like crazy by next week I am suppose to call.  I hope that I stop because it just sucks.  There isn't even a good way of putting that, and I know that the air quality doesn't help any.  I am so ready to move far away.

Another week has come and gone and as I look back on this day I remember so much of it.

As I would feel you move around in me I was so grateful I wouldn't need to feel it forever.  I felt so big and it was hard to get around and do everything I needed to do.  As the doctor told me that I would have to have deliver at the U of  U or the new hospital (IMC) I chose the U of U.  (Don't get me wrong I think after a few years of working out the kinks of opening up a hospital it is a great place, but at that time it had only been open 3 months and there was no way I could chance it.)  As I get to the hospital that morning I couldn't wait to see you!  They had asked me not to deliver at shift change which is at 7pm. (Like I have control over that.) HAHAHA! You are my precious baby.  As I was getting ready for the doctors and staff my head was killing me and as they were going to put an IV in they took some blood to figure out what was going on.  It came back a few hour of miserable head pain that I had toxemia.  They were finally able to give me something that wouldn't hurt you but help me get rid of the headache.  The doctor had informed the staff what when I come in to break my water, but did they listen??? NO!  They were concerned because I had too much fluid and each time you would float away.  So finally after hours and hours of my body telling them to break my water they held you in place and broke my water around 4pm.  They could have done this lots sooner, but didn't.  After I want to say 2 hours you and I were both ready for your appearance.  There were lots of students that were learning about us, because you are special. After you arrived (at shift change) I saw the doctor pass you through a little window in the room.  It was going to be a while before I saw or felt you again.  As the doctor finished up with me and they took me to a room I was wondering and waiting to see you.  As soon as I could I made my way to your little bed in a room where there were 6 other little babies.  I couldn't take my eyes off you.  You were perfect! You look so much like Rhett, I knew that he was going to be so excited!!  You had to be placed under the lights and I was told I could hold you for a little while.  That was so hard!  I wanted to feel you and hold you, but I was always close.  I stayed with you until you were able to come home.  I slept in a rocking chair near your bed and the doctors and nurses couldn't tell me to leave because I wasn't doing anything to be in the way of their job.  I waited and watch and waited some more.  As the days moved on and you "became more stable" according to the doctors I asked if you could come home. I begged nurses and doctors asking knowing that Nikole was going to have a birthday very soon and none of your siblings had even met you. Finally one morning I asked if you could go home and the nurse looked at me and said she would get the doctor. The doctor that was over the whole NBICU came to see me with a few other that follow him around.  He asked me about how I would care for you and what I would do if this happened or that happened. He asked me about family history and I told him about your siblings and everything I have done and still do.  His eye grew in size and in less than 2 hours he said, "Clone her and send him home, she knows what she is doing. I wish we had more parents like her."  I was excited!!!  It was Nikole's birthday and you get to come home. Yes you had a feeding tube and oxygen but you were coming home.  Nikole had her birthday party and you were able to be there.  I was nervous that you would get sick and end up back in the hospital after working so hard to get you out.  But you didn't.  I am so glad that you were able to join our family and the happiness you have brought to us with your sweet spirit.
He says 7!
Because my computer was stolen when our house was broken into I cannot find baby pictures of you. It makes me sad.  I remember taking pictures of you in the NBICU and showing your siblings but those pictures were on the computer.  I feel like a huge chunk of memories are missing that I will never be able to share with others or even show you when you get older. :'(

New year and already sick :(

The new year is here and at least 2 people in our house have had to go the doctor's office already.  We are off to a great start. LOL!!!  I guess we are trying to hit our out of pocket early this year. :)  Who knew.

Well anyways...

School started back up on Monday and as I was getting ready to take Gavin to school Rhett walks into my room grabbing the back of his head on the side where the shunt is placed and told me that his head hurt. (At this point I was panicking.) I asked him calmly what he did and he said nothing. OK, What the crap!!!  So I said, "Rhett can you go to school or do I need to take you to the doctors?" (Usually when I say that they instantly perk up and are ready to avoid the doctors office.) He on the other hand was kneeling next to my bed with his head laying on my bed and still grabbing his head. He was silent for a little bit and I let him be that way for 60 seconds since I was trying to get out the door with Gavin and if I needed to call the bus driver I had to do it soon. So I asked him again and he said that he needed to go to the doctor. CRAP!!!!!  This would happen after a two weeks off of school and the first day back he can't even go.  Seriously if you are going to get sick do it before you have to go school silly boy. :/  LOL!!  So I called the bus driver as I walked Gavin to school and let her know that Rhett wasn't going to be going to school.  As soon as I got home I find out that while I was gone he had thrown up. (GREAT! Sigh.) So I send everyone else out to school and then call the doctors office.  There first appointment with his doctor wasn't until 10:30, so I set it up at that time then asked Rhett if he wanted to wait or go into the walk-in clinic that is between 8 and 9.  I will usually take him if the doctor that is working that knows him and gratefully it was a doctor that knows him. (Thank you for the tender mercy.)  By the time we were headed to the doctors office it was almost 8:30 since he said he didn't want to wait until later.  We get there 3 minutes to 9, and the walk-in clinic was almost closed.  I told them that we have an appointment but he said that he needed to come earlier. They got us back quite quickly since they all know us. :) (Yes we are famous at the doctors office.) So they check him in and (another tender mercy) he doctor sees him before the rest of the patients that were already starting to show up since he was there. He was having problems breathing so the doctor gave him a breathing treatment and told him to take his medicine.  He then turns to me and says... "If he is having a hard time breathing that could cause headaches and vomiting."  Nice to know.  Wish I would have known that before.

By Wednesday I was coughing thanks to my lovely boys who are not sure how to cover their mouths and wash their hand properly.  I need to put them in a bubble so they don't get sick and in turn won't share their colds and viruses with me.  Since they just love to cuddle when they are sick.  I called my doctors since I couldn't stop coughing and I was having a hard time with my breathing since I could feel whatever it was in my lungs. They were just not very nice to me on the phone.  They said that my doctor didn't have any appointments open until sometime next week, and that there were no doctors available then she suggested I go to InstaCare and not even wait until the next day let alone next week.  So I went to InstaCare just to be told I have the same virus that the boys have and they put me on breathing treatments and cough medicine.  Well it is now Friday and I am still coughing like crazy.  At least I have a slight voice and I was able to go to work for a few hours until it was too much and I felt like I couldn't breathe.  I came home and slept for about an hour before the kids started coming home from school.  If you ever want to work out your abs without putting making an effort get a virus that makes you cough like no tomorrow. It is the smartest way to work out your abs without having to really do anything. LOL!!  Ok so I honestly would not recommend it EVER!

It is nice having a set schedule and having the kids back in school even if the homework battle has started back up.  Ok it isn't even very hard waking up at 5 since I am able to at least stretch in the morning before the kids all need to get up and going. As long as everyone gets healthy before next week I will be very grateful. I think I have it worse than anyone right now and it is horrible.  I think I need to see what I can do to invent that bubble. :)  When I get it down I will let everyone know and they can buy them from me and that way it will help keep everyone healthy. HAHAHA!!!

I hope you all have been having a great new year so far. :)
