Shakespeare 2015

This school year has gotten off to a really rocky start.  Rhett is on home/hospital most the day.  He attends one class a day at Skyline and attends Drama at JMS only on B days.  He comes home really tired after drama.  Even though he is medically cleared for home/hospital it has been a fight to get him everything he needs at home, because it seems nobody wants to provide the services that he needs.  I have been fighting almost everyone and I am very grateful to Dale Boam for helping me with all of this.  It is nice to not be fighting by myself.  So because the only home support Rhett is getting is Seminary his teacher comes out every week and they talk and discuss it has been hard on Rhett because he is used to learning and really enjoys learning.  I wish it was a faster process.

This month has already been a little crazy.  Rhett went down to the Shakespeare competition in Cedar City with his fellow deaf classmates and did AWESOME!!!  He was only in the ensemble and he was kinda bummed that he had such a small part but he was so tired and his teacher is amazing and knows that his body can handle only so much and didn't want to over load him.  He would have much rather been overloaded.  But he did great and the whole deaf school did great.  Here are some pictures from the weekend.  Yes I am not taking credit for them all because my picture taking abilities are so much better with a real camera and not a cell phone.  LOL!

These pictures are the prep ready to go down to Cedar City.
Strapped in and ready.
Ok maybe just a little more just to make sure we do not run out.
Made it to Beaver.  On to Cedar City!!
Then we got there and the kids could all get out and run around.  That was much needed, and of course it will not allow me to upload anymore photos until I figure out a way around that.

Of course the only one that loaded that was after everybody was finally able to get off the bus and stretch.
First thing was to practice a little bit then off to dinner.
Yes the salads are huge!

Love the look Rhett and Warren are giving each other. LOL!

After dinner we went and watched:
Yep, Dracula!  It was very interesting.
It was during Dracula that the nurse and I noticed that when we were changing Rhett's oxygen that he would drop very low in his oxygen saturation.  He went from 99/98 to 82 in the time it took to get the regulator off and put on another tank and open that new tank of oxygen.  We then decided that we would use the back up regulator that I had brought that way he was not dropping that low again.

In the morning there were workshops that were open for all those that were performing later in the day.  Most of the kids were performing later in the day so They went to this stage fighting workshop.
Rhett sat there and watched all his friends pretend to fight. LOL!  Hope he didn't get pointers on fighting.

Can I tell you how amazing the interpreters are?  They are AWESOME!!!!
These are some of the awesome pictures that I didn't take while kids were practicing and performing.
Then it was time for the duo/trio scenes and the monologues.  Rhett was not part of them but he was able to watch some of them and support his classmates.
Tony's last year since he is a senior.

While some of the kids were performing Rhett wanted to go to another play since normally we see two to begin with.  This year Rhett was the only one that got to see two since all the other kids were performing.  I took him and he saw:
I have no idea why this is a weird direction.  Yep he saw The Two Gentlemen of Verona.
A tradition for us is to have Rhett try on all the hats after the performance.  Of course he has to get into character of each hat.
Fish sucking your brains out hat.

A Turkey!
Can you guess?
No it is Olaf!!  LOL!!  "I love warm hugs."
Houston we have a problem.

Quidditch anyone?
Frankenstein's wife?  Really Rhett? You are crazy!
Can you guess?
Honey Badger!  LOL!!
He really loved trying on all the different hats and it was fun to watch him.  There was even a lady there that said he made her day by how he acted with all the different hats.  My oldest dramatic actor.
The beautiful sunset Friday night.
The sky Saturday morning even though it was super cold.
Saturday was the ensemble performances and EVERYONE was practicing.  It was freezing so everyone was covered up.  Last minute practicing before the performance at 10:40 am.  Rhett is the wizard and controls the boat that everyone else is basically on.

The voicers making storm sounds.

Last minute pointers and getting everyone ready.  Those in the vests are the voicers and they are also the ones that held the umbrellas since that way the other kids can sign.

That was all folks!  He had a blast and now it is time to celebrate because it is now over until the awards assembly.  Let's go get pictures because we are crazy like that.

Lunch and then the awards assembly later today!  Then we will be headed home.
Everyone gets into the music they play at the awards assembly, even the interpreters.

3rd place in their trio scene!
All of Rhett's classmates and voicers.  Yes he isn't in the picture but that is what happens often, and that is just how life it.
What a great time we had!  Thank you Sarah, Warren, and everyone that was involved and worked hard to do their best.
